What to expect

Visit the stunning Doge's Palace with its rooms of power decorated by great artists such as Tiepolo and Tiziano. Be stunned in front of the golden staircase that brings to the heart of the palace where the Doge lived with the highest politicians and his family. Cross the famous Bridge of Sighs to go down into the old Venetian prisons, where also Casanova was held and managed to escape!

The tour proceeds inside the stunning Saint Mark's Basilica. Admire its marvelous five domes covered in gold! The Basilica is known also as the Golden one thanks to the mosaics completely covered with pure gold. Your expert guide will show you around this masterpiece of Byzantine art explaining its history and the meaning of the many biblical scenes painted inside.

The meeting point is at the brown wooden newsstand with the yellow sign: MEETING POINT, Calle Larga de l'Ascension, St. Mark’s Square, in front of the Post Office. Please be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the departure time.

What to remember

With the same ticket, you can visit by yourself other museums in St. Mark's Square: Old Royal Palace now Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and monumental rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana
On Sundays and holidays, due to the mass being held on the ground floor, the tour will start directly from the Terrace and Museum on the second floor. The famous mosaics will be visible only partially from the second floor
During days of high turnout or for reasons of force majeure (such as high tide or security problems) the waiting time to access St. Mark's Basilica might be longer than expected
This tour is not fully accessible for wheelchair users or people with walking disabilities
Please note that starting between April 25th and July 14, 2024 on certain dates, registration and payment of an access contribution will be necessary to visit the city of Venice. Please check all the information and procedures for registration or payment on the dedicated website of Comune di Venezia
