Why you’ll love this…
  • You'll have time to potter around the cobbled lanes and dinky shops of pretty Guadalest town
  • It's worth the climb up to Guadalest Castle for the wow-worthy views over the reservoir to the sea
  • The Algar Falls have a beautiful, otherworldly feel - dip a toe in one of the clear blue pools
  • There are scenic twists and turns on the drive from the coast into the Aitana mountains and back
  • Your local guide is an expert on the mountains, villages and natural wonders of inland Costa Blanca
What to expect

Two of the Costa Blanca's most photogenic inland spots are the star turns of this tour. You'll visit the fairytale village of Guadalest and the serene Algar waterfalls. Expect amazing scenery and a dramatic drive as you twist and turn along narrow mountain roads. Sofia, one of our expert local guides, says"even though there isn't much left standing of the castle in Guadalest, it's well worth visiting because it has the best views. You'll get fabulous photos of the bell tower that tops the ridge, the smooth, carpet-like reservoir in the valley and the mountains tumbling down to the coast. You can even see the sea."

First up is Guadalest. The jewel in the crown of the Costa Blanca interior clings to a rocky outcrop amid some of the most romantic scenery imaginable. Wander the village's dozen or so streets, which are home to eight museums, and pass through tunnels carved into the rock. As you weave up the cobbled lanes towards the top of the ridge, the views over the valley just get better and better.

Then it's on to one of the natural wonders of the Costa Blanca – the Algar waterfalls. With pebble beaches, deep blue pools, mossy channels and thundering cascades, it's like a natural waterpark. Stroll along the trail to the sparkling clear pools of the River Algar and admire some of Mother Nature's finest work. Sofia says "the water here is beautiful, clean and refreshingly cold even in the height of summer, because it flows directly from sources high in the mountains."

Transfer to the Moors and Christians Festival of La Vila Joiosa

Transfer to the Moors and Christians Festival of La Vila Joiosa

Declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, the Moors and Christians Festival of La Vila Joiosa is one of Costa Blanca's most spectacular celebrations. Every summer, this sleepy seaside town bursts into life for a week of parades, parties and historical battle re-enactments that'll whisk you straight back to the 16th century. Locals dress up as Moors or Christians, and the whole town gets involved – there's dancing, drumming and enough paella to feed a packed Wembley Stadium. With this transfer ticket, all you need to do is turn up ready to celebrate in style. Whether you're into history, costumes, or just love a good fiesta, this lively summer event has loads to offer. It's all about celebrating the town's past, when locals fought off a pirate invasion in 1538. Legend has it that Saint Martha, the town's patron saint, stepped in to save the day by flooding the beach and sinking the pirate ships. As a thank you, the townspeople began holding annual celebrations in her honour.

Alicante Hogueras de San Juan Festival

Alicante Hogueras de San Juan Festival

Welcome to the vibrant and colourful festival of Hogueras de San Juan, in Alicante. Held annually from June 20th to 24th, this celebration transforms the city into a lively hub of art, tradition and fun. You'll kick things off with a guided stroll through the city so you can take a look at the "Hogueras" – large artistic structures made of cardboard and stone. These creations, depicting satirical and sometimes funny scenes, are scattered throughout Alicante. After the tour, you'll have some free time to immerse yourself in the festival's unique atmosphere. The Bonfires of San Juan are a traditional and joyful celebration that marks the beginning of summer. The festival's all about burning useless objects at the summer solstice. During these days, the city is filled with light, colour, music and fireworks. The event kicks off with the Proclamation and the "Planta," when bonfires and lots of different monuments are placed around the city – some of them get up to be 20 metres tall. The most anticipated moment of the festival is St John's Day, June 24th, when a purifying fire consumes the bonfires during an event known as the "Nit de la Crema." This spectacle is the perfect culmination of your visit, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Alicante's most cherished tradition.
