The most comfortable way to reach the museum is by foot. By car, it is advisable to use "Holzmarkt" or "Rheinauhafen" as navigation keywords.Other comfortable ways to reach the museum are by boat and by "SCHOKO-Express" tram that departs every 30 minutes from the Cologne Cathedral (a definitely panoramic drive).
What to remember
  • Opening hours: weekdays 10.00am to 6.00pm, weekends 10.00am to 6.00pm. Note: Christmas Eve and 25 December closed. New Year's Eve: 10.00am to 4.00pm and New Year's Day 10.00am to 06.00pm. Last admission: 1 hour before closure
  • In January, February, March, and November: closed on Mondays
  • The chocolate production ends about 30 minutes before the museum closes
  • The museum is fully wheelchair accessible
  • Children of age up to 11 years get access only if accompanied by an adult
  • 1 companion per disabled person (with companion ID) gets free entrance
  • For all reduced tickets, please show a valid document
  • Pets are not allowed
  • Infants (age 0-5) enter for free
