Att göra – Hofburg
Hofburg slott byggdes på 1200-talet och var ursprungligen en medeltida fästning och utvidgades genom århundradena till att bli det vackra slottet vi känner idag: en symbol för den österrikiska kulturen och kungligheterna. Den senaste delen av slottet lades till i början av 1900-talet, och den enda kvarvarande delen från medeltiden är kapellet eller Burgkapelle. Slottet var residens för några av de mest maktfulla monarkerna i Europa, såsom Habsburg-dynastin och fortsatte att expandera, liksom deras makt i det österrikisk-ungerska riket. I århundraden har Hofburg-palatset varit det kejserliga palatset i hjärtat av Wien och den främsta vinterresidensen, Schönbrunn-palatset som sommarresidens. Idag är det den österrikiska presidentens officiella säte och ett ikoniskt arkitektoniskt landmärke som ingen resenär bör missa.
Hofburg ligger vid slutet av den livliga Kohlmarkt-gatan i Wien och påminner om storheten hos familjen Habsburg, som fortfarande kan observeras i de olika rummen och salarna, såsom ceremonisalen. Där kan man besöka Nationalbiblioteket (Österreichische Nationalbibliothek), det kejserliga skattkammaren (Schatzkammer) och många samlingar som samlingen av musikinstrument och samlingen av vapen. Missa inte de underbara exotiska fjärilarna som flyger fritt i ett imponerande art deco-glashus.
