Katedralen i Sevilla, även känd som katedralen Santa María de la Sede, är en viktig intressant plats för dem som väljer Spanien som semestermål. Det är världens största gotiska katedral och det tredje största kristna templet efter St. Peters basilika i Rom och St. Pauls katedral i London. 1987 förklarades det som ett UNESCO världsarv. Katedralen ligger i hjärtat av staden. Dess konstruktion går tillbaka till 1401 på platsen för den tidigare stora moskén, där katedralen behållt innergården med apelsinträd och minareten, nu känd som Giralda. Sevillas katedral omvandlades till en kristen kyrka 1248 när staden erövrades av Ferdinand III av Castilla. Den består av 5 skepp och 25 kapell, där du kan beundra viktiga spanska konstnärers arbete.
"Låt oss bygga en kyrka där de som ser dess sniderier kommer se oss som galna": således tolkade staden mötena i Sevilla 1401 där man beslutade att stadens gamla moské skulle rivas. Omedvetet tillkännagav de skapandet av detta imponerande arkitektoniska arbete. Utsidan kännetecknas av en imponerande uppsättning reliefer. Namnet på arkitekten som designade den är dock okänd.
Katedralen i Sevilla består av Giralda-tornet, innergården med apelsinträd, taken, förlåtelsens dörr, befruktningens dörr, pinnarnas dörr, klockornas dörr, prinsens dörr, Saint Michaels dörr, antagandets dörr och dop-dörren.
