So near and yet so far apart. Corsica and Sardinia are like two siblings who moved to different countries and are separated not just by the sea but by culture, too. This day trip to the cliff-perched town of Bonifacio in southern Corsica is the ideal way to get to know France's wildest region.

After a drive to the north of Sardinia to catch the ferry at Santa Teresa, you'll make the 50-minute crossing. Precariously built on 70m-high cliffs, Bonifacio's fjord-like harbour is quite the sight. You'll hop on a mini train to the centre before a guided tour of this vertiginous citadel with tightly packed narrow alleys. There'll be a break for lunch, followed by free time in the afternoon.

As you wander the cobbled streets, you'll be following in the footsteps of Corsica's most famous son, Napoleon, who plotted his invasion of Sardinia from here. Browse for antiques, handicrafts and jewellery in the shops that now fill the ancient houses, or head down to the harbour to watch the yachts come and go.

    The day trip was lovely there was a lot of travel involved and I think this should be made clearer when booking. Our tour quide was ok but he kept disappearing which wasn't helpful

    We didn't know how far the transport was to the boat. 2 hours without toilet break was not good. Otherwise everything was really good.

    Great trip, long day but plenty time in Bonifacio. Lovely city plenty good places for lunch. Most enjoyable.

    Great day out although a bit long. Had to wait for people to join the trip at different times which was frustrating as they were late and increased travel time. Trip seemed unorganised at times. Guide was great

    Tour Guide was extremely helpful informative and friendly. We think that the tour around Corsica was a little hurried so then too much free time. I had fallen on entering the ferry and staff were very good.

    We were collected from our hotel by an Italian driver we were expecting the guide. We called the help number on TUI and was told to get on the boat the guide will meet us in Corsica. We were denied boarding as we didn’t have tickets. I was calling back the help desk when a coach full of people arrived with the guide saying he had been looking for us. This misinfo was stressful. Bonifacio and the guide were amazing would recommend the trip if you can sort out the admin
